PS3 Hacked to run Linux
May 19, 08 08:17 PM PDT

We all know the PS3 is the most powerful home game console at this point in time, so it was only a matter of time before somebody took the time and trouble to get Linux Ubuntu up and running on the PS3. Don't worry, unlike jailbreaking your iPhone, the risk of bricking your PS3 is virtually nil, but you will definitely lose all your game data so only perform this home-based "operation" if you're willing to forgo all the hard gaming work in the past, or just make a backup. First off, you will need to install a 250GB hard drive within, followed by other instructions available from the Popular Mechanics page. Are you game?

And of course you can install Ubuntu on any PS3 without the need for a 250gb HDD.

Hacked??? Using built in Sony tools to install a second os on a ps3 hardly qualifies as hacking.
