Zune Gapless Playback Arrives
Posted on: May 05, 2008

Zune has gone live with version 2.5 of its software, offering a rather substantial update in addition to the social aspect, implementation of auto playlists, better meta data editing, and even a video section which enables TV shows to be downloaded. Gapless playback is one interesting addition as it will be extremely welcome for the live music listener and electronic mix fan. Changes in the software/firmware version 2.5 are as follows :-
- Video Marketplace
- Synch Zune Cards
- Search Friends By Real Name
- Instant Friends
- User Reviews for Album and Artists
- Reputation Badges
- Windows Live “Now Playing”
- Auto Playlists
- Video Browsing
- Gapless Playback
- Sync Groups
- Genre Browsing
- Improved Metadata Editing
- Zune Reminders
- Support for XNA
- More Seamless Social Integration

I have the same question regarding gapless playback. I can rip a CD in WMA or MP3 where the tracks on the CD run into each other...And when I listen on my Zune (which has been updated to the latest firmware) it still has gaps between tracks. What gives? I must be missing something obvious.

I have read everywhere that there is now gapless playback, but I can't seem to find any options or information relating to it. Anyone actually know how to enable it?
