Stereo 3D could be the next big thing where home entertainment is concerned, as the 3D@Home Consortium, consisting of Disney, Universal, Philips, Samsung, Sony, Thomson and IMAX, are working towards an affordable home-based solution. It seems that (stereo) 3D HDTVs will make their way in over one million US homes before 2008 is over, with Mitsubishi and Samsung handling the manufacturing responsibilities. There are plenty of 3D titles being planned for cinemas, so it would make perfect sense to expect these very same titles appear on Blu-ray and DVD formats as well. After all 3D content is not all that difficult to make, if planned in advance and it could justify a price hike…
