Microsoft will be venturing into the world of portable navigation devices by introducing a new operating system that targets GPS units, known as the Microsoft Windows Embedded NavReady 2009. This software will be based on Windows Embedded CE, bringing together navigation tools along with enhancements such as Live Search, MSN Direct, and Windows SideShow integration. Bluetooth connectivity will be emphasized as well. Microsoft aims to ship this new operating system to OEMs as well as developers in the near future so that the holiday 2008 season will see these Microsoft-powered devices debut.
