NXP Speeds Up Cellular Modem
Posted on Jun 12, 08 10:10 PM PDT

NXP Semiconductors can lay claim to the "fastest high-bandwidth cellular soft modem in the world" with the Nexperia Cellular System Solution PNX6910. It can apparently hit phenomenal data transfer rates of 150 Mbits downlink and 50 Mbits uplink, boasting support for multi-mode LTE/HSPA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS/GSM capability. Guess lag in games will be a thing of the past if this cellular modem lives up to its promise, while downloading full length high definition films will take but mere minutes. Now to wait for the rest of the technology world to catch up with this modem to ensure that no bottlenecks exist anywhere...
