Robot Hand Senses Nearby Objects

Published on 06/12/2008

Check out this robot hand that is able to sense a nearby object before it comes into contact with it, courtesy of using the electrolocation process which involves the robot's fingertips sending out weak electrical impulses to approaching objects which then interfere with that impulse, enabling the hand to form the object before touching it. This sense of pre-touch is the ultimate goal for Intel's researchers, and guess this will help future bionic arms in robots function much more efficiently.
