Toshiba has updated their Portégé R500 with a new model, and this time round it will hold the distinction of being the world’s lightest laptop with a 128GB SSD and DVD SuperMulti drive. Features include :-

• Weighs 2.4 pounds
• Measures 0.77" thick
• 12.1" display with LED backlight
• 128GB SSD
• Intel Core 2 Duo 1.33GHz processor
• 2GB RAM
• Wi-Fi-n connectivity
• Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

Data on the Portege R500 will also be more secure courtesy of an integrated fingerprint reader and Toshiba’s own EasyGuard encryption system. You can pick up the new and improved Portege R500-S5007V for $2,999. Each purchase comes with a 3-year warranty.
