Zero Emission House

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has lifted the veil on more details concerning the “Zero Emission House.” This project is a state-of-the-art green home that is currently being built at the site of the upcoming Hokkaido Toyako G8 Summit, where environmental issues will play a top priority on the agenda. Features include a special design to produce a small carbon footprint, a 14.5-kilowatt solar array and a small 1-kilowatt wind generator that keeps the home powered. In addition, you will find next-generation energy-saving appliances within, thermal insulation glass to further keep the home warm without turning up the heater too much, vacuum insulated panels and a green roof. OLED lamps and a system of light ducts keep the interior illuminated. This home is being constructed at a cost of approximately $2,000,000. Perhaps that's how all houses should be like...50 years down the road if we still have a planet, that is.
