Belkin Powerline Series

Published on 07/10/2008

Belkin's new Powerline series is able to hit speeds of up to 200Mbps, depending on the model you decide to bring home. This is more than enough for superior Internet connections and video streaming within a 300 meter range, minus the lag that often comes with wireless connectivity. In addition, it supports AES encryption so that outsiders won't be able to enter your network without prior permission (hackers notwithstanding). The Powerline Starter Kit will retail for $100 and comes with a single adapter for an existing router and one for a computer, while the $150 Powerline AV Starter Kit throws in HomePlug AV support for home theater equipment in addition to full 200Mbps performance and 128-bit encryption. As for the high end Powerline AV+ Starter Kit that costs a wallet-numbing $180, one of the adapters is replaced with the three-port Ethernet connection for multiple computers or AV devices on one adapter. These three packages will ship in North America and Australia by the time October rolls around.
