You can't get any more official than with a press release, and this is exactly what happened to the Canon EOS Rebel XS DSLR. Also known as the 1000D, this camera will retail for $699.99 when it ships next month. At that price, you will benefit from the same f/3.5-5.6 18-55mm image-stabilizing lens found on the XSi. If you're using a regular point-and-shoot digital camera and want to take the next step upwards to the world of DSLRs, will you consider the Canon EOS Rebel XS?
