iRobot Files Patent for Lawn Mowing Bot

iRobot isn't going to stop at just intelligent vacuuming robots for the home, as they have also filed a patent for a lawn-mowing robot. I will leave the naming convention to our dear imaginative readers, but in the 84-page filing, there is a variety of configurations to choose from, including an all-electric model and a gas-electric hybrid. Why not solar-powered model to join the fray? After all, the lawn is located under the sun, right? There are acoustic and optical sensors in the patent filing that claims to allow the robot to "avoid hard surfaces, water and other barriers" while going about cutting grass. I wonder what the resident house dog has to say about this robotic contraption making a mess of its turf.
