Symbian knows what a threat the iPhone is along with a few other touch screen based devices, and hence has made the necessary arrangements to hit back with a touch user interface of its own. What you see here is from a beta of an upcoming version of Nokia’s S60 theme-building software known as Carbide.ui. It looks as though many elements from the S60 platform has been retained, while throwing in newer features such as larger touch-friendly menu buttons that are pretty common to each screen. It would be interesting to see which upcoming Nokia devices will carry this new S60 operating system. More competition is always healthy as the customers end up as winners in the end.
