Sony Reader Supports EPUB Format
Posted on Jul 24, 08 09:22 AM PDT

Sony's e-book reader is the first of its kind to support the spanking new EPUB format. This standard is one of the first few that has been accepted by multiple major publishers and enables both locked-down and unprotected books to automatically reflow to fit the screen or particular fonts. In addition, a software update throws in compatibility with protected Adobe e-books and is now capable of reflowing basic PDFs on-the-fly. Users also have a say in loading these books, thanks to an updated version of the Sony eBook Library application. EPUB support will arrive only next month, and this will coincide with a limited edition red Reader which boasts these new features as well. Good thing the price remains the same at $300.
