Curved Sensor in Eye-Shaped Camera
Posted on Aug 7, 08 10:13 PM PDT

Now here's a first - an eye-shaped camera that comes with a curved sensor thanks to two researchers from Northwestern University in Illinois. They have ditched the idea of placing light-sensitive components on a brittle surface, where each individual photoreceptor has its own small square and is held together by a wire mesh that ferries information as well. In theory, this means that the final device it is fitted in can be churned out in just about any shape you want (within reasonable limits, of course).
