Electronic Tongue Developed
Posted on Aug 4, 08 07:11 PM PDT

The tongue is one of the most essential muscles in our body, as it helps us communicate and lets us know whether your mother-in-law's cooking is up to par with food you grew up with at home. Scientists have managed to develop an electronic tongue in the form of a handheld device, capable of telling the differences between various wines thanks to half a dozen sensors that measure levels of acid, sugar and alcohol - all without running the risk of a machine "getting drunk". I'd rather stick to traditional wine tasting techniques though, as it offers a place for people to mill around and have fellowship with one another. An electronic tongue does nothing but just take the fun out of wine tasting.
