Intel Wants To Atomize Everything
Posted on Aug 19, 08 07:12 PM PDT

Looks like Intel is hell bent on pushing its Atom processor into just about anything, including BMWs. Both companies have been working together to construct a multimedia and computing system for the car with an Intel Atom processor running at the heart of things. Hopefully the software backing up the processor will be stable and not result in crashes, after all, anyone who drives a BMW would expect precision and reliability in everything they do and use. A quick demonstration of the Atom-based in-car computer showed the ability to offer information on the surrounding environment by virtue of an Internet connection and GPS functionality. Touch screen LCD displays at the back also help keep the kids occupied with streaming Internet videos, but make sure their hands are clean lest they leave grease marks all over the display.
