NVIDIA to demo its DX10 stereo 3D driver

120Hz televisions that can run computer games in stereo 3D (with shutter glasses) is not new, we’ve seen plenty of it at CES, but this time, this is running with DirectX 10 games. The current public driver runs only DX9 apps.

Note that non-NVIDIA companies also provide drivers like that (at least, for DX9) but the current business model is that consumers have to buy a special “driver” ($5-$10) for each game – and yes, that’s awfully expensive.

NVIDIA has a stereo driver that works with hundreds of games, out of the box . The company has been perfecting this technique for a while and game developers have been taught to avoid stereo-adverse techniques (such as sprites without a proper Z-value). The result: there’s no need to pay for “stereo drivers”, NVIDIA would rather have you buy a new GPU… The question is: when can the publicdownload the DX10 stereo driver?
