Samsung SpinPoint N2 USB Hard Drive

Just as how 2.5" hard drives have difficulty catching up with 3.5" models when it comes to capacity, the 1.8" hard drives aren't exactly large by comparison to the 2.5" models. Samsung has finally overcome the 100GB barrier with the new SpinPoint N2 USB hard drive that is roughly the size of a credit card. It will be interesting to see which hardware manufacturers will consider including these instead of SSDs in their devices, but one thing's for sure - the SpinPoint N2 will be a power saver without sacrificing on performance. This 4,200 RPM drive sips less than 1.4W of juice, requiring a mere 300mA from a 500mA USB port. It ain't no slouch either with read and write speeds of 27MB/s and 23MB/s, respectively. You will be able to choose from 40GB, 60GB, 80GB and 120GB capacities that will retail for $161, $191, $235 and $293, respectively.
