uLocate and Garmin team up on buddy location service

Under the partnership, Garmin is going to use WHERE's application programming interface (API) to add buddy finding features to existing and future devices. Garmin will let customers access Buddy Beacon to find friends or update their own location. Of course, we think of the Nuviphone or other phones using Garmin software, as the device needs to be capable of accessing a data network. This might also give hope that upcoming Garmin GPS will have an always-on data connectivity (like the Dash Express), which would be great for many reasons, such as sending a route directly from your PC or synching all kinds of information from the cloud. In the meantime, that will bring a little competition to Loopt which has been on a roll, lately.
