New Apple Nike+ System
Posted on Sep 11, 08 07:32 PM PDT

There is a new Apple filing depicting a future Nike+ system that claims to offer a more accurate depiction of athletic performance in real time, capable of providing instant feedback on the wear of athletic gear as well as sending advertisements from companies during your workout - the latter doesn't sound too inviting though, so it would be interesting to see which company would actually take the risk of spamming their customers with more ads. The new Nike+ sensor is supposed to be smart enough to let the user know that a particular garment or piece of sporting equipment has already reached the end of its lifeline, urging you to change it for an optimal sporting experience. Force sensing units of the next-generation Nike+ shoe might be placed at three different points to help characterize a user's running style in real time more accurately.
