Samsung sees Blu-Ray dead in 5 years?
Posted on Sep 3, 08 11:35 AM PDT

Ironically, right after Samsung announced new Blu-Ray players, this comment came: "I think it [Blu-Ray] has 5 years left, I certainly wouldn't give it 10." (Andy Griffiths, Samsung UK).
Mr Griffiths doesn't elaborate on what might replace Blu-Ray, but in Samsung's wildest dreams, it's probably replaced by flash memory - just kidding. Just to speculate, Samsung might think that video downloads will take over, or that we'll switch to a 4K (4000 pixels wide) resolution.
