Sony BWU-300S Internal Blu-ray Disc Writer
Posted on Sep 23, 08 07:54 PM PDT

Sony's really going all out with its Blu-ray media, and this time have released its third generation internal Blu-ray disc writer that retails for $400. I suppose this is a decent backup solution for folks who have plenty of time on their hands, after all, writing a dual-layer Blu-ray disc (that's 50GB worth of data, folks) is no joke. The BWU-300S is able to do a 25GB disc in 15 minutes or so, with that amount of time doubling where 50GB discs are concerned, thanks to 8x recording speed despite using 6x compatible BD-R media. It also does DVDs at 16x, CDs at 48x and supports DVD-RAM recording if you're still dealing with "old" media. Each purchase is bundled with a Blu-ray version of Men in Black to help draw you into the world of high definition.
