Sony Recalls More Vaio Laptops
Posted on Sep 4, 08 08:21 AM PDT

Sony has recalled 73,000 Vaio laptops (according to Product Reviews anyway) that could carry a possible manufacturing defect, where the worst consequence would be an overheating issue. This problem is most likely due to the wiring near the laptop's hinge, potentially short circuiting the device that makes it overheat (and spontaneously combust in worst-case scenarios). A person has already suffered from a minor burn, while Sony has received another 15 reports concerning an overheated Vaio. The affected Vaio TZ models are the VGN-TZ100, VGN-TZ200, VGN-TZ300 and VGN-TZ2000, so if you own any of those, make sure you don't place it on your lap while doing some work, not unless you want the family jewels to turn into ash.
