Sony X1 LCD TV with Enhanced Reality - filters videos up to a higher quality level

[CEATEC 2008] Enhanced Reality is Sony’s name for the image processing done by the new BRAVIA Engine 2 Pro (chip/algorithm/both). I’m not sure why Sony uses the word “pro” in a consumer device, but we looked at a side-by-side demo of the Sony X1 compared to an unknown LCD TV (that looked like a Sharp…). The demo consisted in displaying a movie with small details like cherry flowers. On the Sony X1, the image was crisper and “better”, thanks to the image processor. On the competitor’s TV, it was a little blurry. Expect more and more image processing to be added to TVs as manufacturers search for more added-value and differentiation.
