Yahoo! GPS Bicycles
Posted on Sep 16, 08 10:10 AM PDT

Yahoo! tries something different this time round, rolling out a bunch of GPS-enable bicycles that comes with cameraphones that have been set to snap images automatically between time intervals, uploading those photos to Flickr to riders in cities around the globe. These bicycles are currently in use in San Francisco and New York, although they will soon be dispatched in Singapore, Denmark and the UK. Each bike features solar panels that provide the camera with enough juice, while special software relies on the phone's accelerometer to capture an image every minute whenever the bike is in motion. The Nokia N95 will be the handset of choice, and if you're interested in this project, you can also download Yahoo's ZoneTag software onto your Symbian S60-powered handset, attaching the phone to your vehicle of choice and start snapping away.
