Access Reveals Linux Platform 3.0

Access, the company that bought over PalmSource, has released the Linux Platform 3.0 which is the successor to the Palm OS. Not only does it support native Linux applications, it also plays nice with legacy Garnet OS and Java applications. In addition, ALP 3.0 is also fully compliant with the LiMo Foundation's specifications for mobile Linux. It would be interesting to see new devices ship with ALP 3.0 on an official basis, and could prove to make the touch screen mobile market all the more interesting. As we've mentioned many times before, value these days is in the software, which explains why the iPhone has done extremely well despite faltering in terms of hardware comparison with other handsets.
