With the world running out of resources soon due to imbalanced consumption, it is heartening to see more and more people thinking about the environment as well as the impact of their choices on it. Power usage in homes can be cut down in many ways, and among them is using the AlertMe – a kit that can monitor and cut your electricity and gas use automatically at home. The first device from the AlertMe range is the Smart Plug that will communicate with the AlertMe hub wirelessly, displaying individual socket’s power usage on a web page which you can access via a browser. What makes this different is the ability to turn any plug off remotely (as long as the Smart Plug is connected to that socket) – helping you turn on/off appliances even when you’re on the road. Individual Smart Plugs will retail for £25 a pop this November.
