Dell predicts that it will outpace the (slowing) industry next year

"For the first nine months of this year, according to IDC, Dell grew a few points faster than the overall industry for our unit growth," (Michael Dell).
It is not a surprise that Dell does relatively well in a slowing economy: the company is known as being the king of cost-cutting. They offer very decent configuration at a attractive prices, often helped by big discounts and in this economy, that has to help. When the economy does better, companies like HP do well and as of late Apple is doing great - but warned of a slow down.
Being strong in difficult times is great but will Dell also be on top when the economy picks up again?
