D-Link Introduces SharePort Technology
Posted on Oct 5, 08 10:46 PM PDT

D-Link has introduced a new technology known as SharePort, allowing users to share normal USB accessories over a home network as long as the USB device is plugged into the router. All of D-Link's current 802.11n routers will be able to support this functionality thanks to a free firmware upgrade. For the more technically minded, SharePort technology relies on using new USB over TCP/IP technology, where a single USB port on the back of the router can be accessed from any computer on the network. Imagine breathing new leases of life into your USB flash drives by turning it into a network storage drive. Have you upgrarded your firmware yet, and how do you find SharePort technology making your life easier?
