Fujitsu Working On Multi-Touch Computers
Posted on Oct 2, 08 06:55 PM PDT

Fujitsu is currently developing a new range of multi-touch computers which will roll out sometime in the middle of next year, although such technology will be limited to fixed and convertible tablet PCs and won't be found on all of its notebooks. After all, the lidded design of the majority of notebooks render touch screen displays impractical and a waste of space. According to Fujitsu senior product director Paul Moore, "If you put a notebook in a slate mode, you are talking about a platform that is more gesture friendly than the clamshell," he says. "You don't see a lot of touchscreen notebooks because it is not intuitive to reach up and start touching the screen when there is a good keypad." He's got a moot point there.
