NEC 3D LCD Panel Needs No Glasses
Posted on Oct 15, 08 10:27 AM PDT

You don't have to look dorky any more wearing those special glasses while enjoying your favorite movie in 3D, thanks to NEC's efforts that resulted in the 12.1" LCD 3D panel. This 3D display uses smaller screens produced four years back as a technical basis, where the new amorpheus silicon TFT features SVGA resolution at 800 × 600 pixels. Commercialization of this new LCD 3D panel will begin early next year, but NEC will concentrate on arcade game producers as well as medical imaging device manufacturers first instead of the mainstream consumer. I can see why they'd do that - after all, how many TV stations do you think are going to work through their entire catalog in order to come up with a 3D viewable version?
