Satoru Iwata: the Nintendo DSi is not going after the iPhone - duh!

Satoru Iwata: the Nintendo DSi is not going after the iPhone - duh! Nintendo's president was apparently asked during an interview (Nikkei - subscription link) and had to reply to the obvious: the DSi is not an iPhone killer. Sure, the device can download applications that aren't gaming related. It can also browse the web but that's far -very far- from making it an iPhone-killer (did someone notice that it's not a phone?). Anyhow, the move to downloadable games is most likely a good one for Nintendo, as it will streamline the distribution, bypass stores and generate additional revenues to the company - a model not unlike iTunes. Other than that, it's hard to see why the iPhone even popped in the conversation. Edge, via crunchgear
