Solar Power Satellites Come In Handy

With the world heading towards unprecedented levels of energy crisis, no thanks to industrialization across the globe, we humans must start to look for more efficent ways to harness the renewable energy sources, and among these include a solar powered satellite that is powerful enough to beam down energy onto the earth. Ben Bova, president of the National Space Society, has recently urged the future US president to commission a US$1 billion solar power satellite from NASA that will be able to transmit energy directly from the sun, broadcasting it to a receiver located on earth via microwave frequencies. I wonder if this energy could be transformed up in space to act as a giant laser instead upon enemy territory - now that'd be a terrifying thought.
