AUO Offers LCD Panel With Fingerprint Scanner

AU Optronics are at the forefront of things yet again with its new 2.8" LCD panel being capable of scannign fingerprints within seconds, thanks to its integrated detection circuit and optical sensors which have already been mounted. This enables mobile devices to use the screen itself as a fingerprint security sensor. Imagine the possibilities - only you can unlock your handset, while others will be busy trying to figure things out as they play with your phone. Other interesting applications would be home and office security systems and maybe even an in-dash display for your car.
