IcePhone Does More Than Just Talk

The IcePhone (short for In Case of Emergency Phone) could very well be the future of cell phones, or could it be just a failed outing? Well, we’ll leave that to the consumers to decide, but here’s a little skinny on the device itself. The manufacturers have dubbed it a micro notebook, since it comes with a foldable hinge and a trio of independent panels which are able to cram in a 3″ touchscreen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, a mouse tracking pad as well as game console controls. Other features include :-

  • Dual SIM card carriage
  • GSM Quadband 850/900/1800/1900, GPRS/EDGE connectivity
  • 7.2 Mbps HSDPA UMTS 2100 connectivity
  • Freescale iMX31 532MHz processor
  • 3″ 240×400 resolution 65K color transflective TFT touchscreen
  • Windows Mobile 6.0 Pro OS
  • 3.1 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • Built-in GPS
  • Wi-Fi b/g connectivity

It is already in production and is tipped to arrive in Thailand pretty soon, although those residing in the UK will be able to get their hands on it next March or April. Word on the street has it that the IcePhone will retail for no more than $1,000 a pop.
