SanDisk ExtremeFFS Flash File System

SanDisk claims it has a way to remove one of the remaining few performance bottlenecks often associated with solid state drives, courtesy of a new flash file system touted as ExtremeFFS. This system will utilize a page-based method which does not tie the logical location of data on the drive to its physical space, but will instead dynamically write and alter the position of data based on where it would be most efficient. According to SanDisk, this effort ought to see random write speeds hit a 100x increase compared to current drives, moving reliability up the ladder as there is a reduced tendency to write in the same physical space on a regular basis, reducing wear and tear simultaneously. Guess this would really push SSD ahead of hard drives then.
