Stallion The Highest Resolution Tile Display
Posted on Nov 24, 08 05:34 PM PDT

Don't get too smug with your brand new HDTV yet - the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin has just unveiled the Stallion, boasting a whopping 307 million pixels to make it the world's highest resolution tiled display. It isn't just there as a showpiece, but was specially designed for studying diminutive cells and checking out old game footage (what the?!). This is made possible by hooking up 75 30" Dell LCD displays that have a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 each. Other specifications include 36GB of graphics memory, 108GB of system memory and 100 processing cores.
