Verizon recently rolled out its USB760 Micr Modem that measures a mere 2.24" x 1", and you won't even know its there as it is lighter than an ounce. The internal dual-band antenna does come with a connector that allows you to hook it up to an optional external antenna for a better signal, while a microSD memory card slot turns it into an impromptu storage solution. Verizon's USB760 Micro Modem is compatible with EVDO Rev. A, Rev. 0 and 1XRTT standards, and will be available at Verizon stores from December 1st onwards for $100 after a $50 mail-in rebate and tying yourself down to a two year contract. You can choose from $40 or $60 monthly plans that make providence for 50MB and 5GB data usage, respectively.
