Addonics NAS Adapter

Addonics has just rolled out its new NAS adapter that allows users to add USB-based storage devices to any local area network. This USB storage device will be made accessible to any user on the network, including eight outside users as long as there is an Internet connection via FTP access. The NAS Adapter is compatible with both SMB as well as open-source Samba network protocols, and you can opt to configure it as a BitTorrent downloader (naughty, naughty) or a printer server. As an administrator though, you will be able to set up the adapter to restrict folkder access to read only so that no one will be able to muck around with your files. Connectivity options include a 10/100Mbps Ethernet jack and a USB 2.0 port that offers more than enough juice for a 2.5″ hard drive as well as other USB storage devices sans AC cable. The Addonics NAS adapter works with most versions of Mac OS X, Windows, Linux 2.6.x, Solaris 9 and other common platforms, and will retail for $55.
