Apple Turn To Liquid Coolants In Future MacBooks

Published on 12/ 2/2008

Apple could delve into the world of liquid coolants yet again in future MacBook designs after it employed the same technique on its line of dual processor Power Mac G5s several years ago. According to the 12-page patent request, Apple claims that both size and weight limitations in such devices can make it difficult to achieve desired operational temperatures, which is where the liquid cooling MacBook idea comes around. There is no concrete method on how Apple will approach this, by using vents tapered in a special manner or even use a mechanical pump or an electrostatic pump to keep the proceedings running cool. Hopefully if this idea takes off, your MacBooks won't suffer from aged pipes as the years go by, as that would be disastrous for your data stored within since all the components will be fried.
