Broadcom Does 802.11n Wi-Fi Chip For Phones

Broadcom has broken new ground with a brand new chip for cell phones that offers Bluetooth connectivity, FM radio reception as well as 802.11n wireless data support at a maximum speed of 50Mbps without draining your battery in an instant. Mobile browsers won't really be able to take advantage of this new chip since they aren't speedy enough to handle incoming data at draft-N speeds, but one can only look forward to the wireless synchronizing potential found on this chip. It won't be until late next year where phones equipped with this new chip will be ready for customers, so if you can wait until then to get your hand on the latest, why not? According to Broadcom, their new 802.11n combo chip is even more power efficient compared to current 802.11g chips found in phones today.
