Creative Zii Processor Is Different
Posted on Dec 29, 08 07:09 AM PDT

Creative has positioned its Zii processor to be different from anything the Singaporean-based company has conjured up so far - it won't be anywhere close to the X-Fi audio processing chip found in most Creative sound cards and MP3 players, and will not remain exclusively tied down to a single product either. Instead, it will make its way into several devices that are yet to be announced. There is no word on where the Zii chip will be used, and we can deduce that Creative's own reference to "stemcell computing" could lead to it being utilized in more general computing devices. There is also the possibility of it being a co-processor instead of a main component. Hopefully the Zii's unveiling at CES 2009 will shed more light and detail on its purpose.
