Dell Has an Avalanche of Custom Skins for the Studio Line
Posted on Dec 2, 08 03:52 PM PDT

Yesterday, we published the first sneak peek of Dell's custom designs for its Studio line of laptops. Today, you can go to the official website and browse them for yourself. There are 58 base designs that you can browse either by artist or by colors (which is kind of cool). Upon selecting your base design, you can sometimes personalize it further by adding predefined art.
Note that this is *not* an adhesive - each laptop is built-for-order and the design is actually infused into the plastic. The final surface is supposedly strong and durable. It's quite amazing that they can be so flexible.
It's even more exciting to know that Dell is trying to make it possible for customers to upload their own design in the future. That would be a killer, don't you think? The additional cost for the custom skin is around $75 and it adds two days in the overall delivery process, which seems reasonable. Visit dell.com/designstudio.
