ITRI AMOLED Display Prototype

Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) recently paraded a range of new flexible AMOLED display prototypes that are able to roll up, making them pretty much flexible - an achievement which is worth trumpeting. This 4.1" panel is constructed on plastic substrate, while the prototype itself is monochrome at this point in time although it can be made with color materials if desired. Needless to say, to see such prototypes hit the market soon would be pretty much impossible, and even if so, they would be priced well out of reach of the layman who is struggling with bread and butter issues. Still, we do hold out hope of seeing flexible AMOLED displays be commonplace in due time.
