NEC will be rolling out its new LaVie L notebook in Japan sometime this month that will feature the following high-end specifications :-

• 15.4" LCD display at 1,280 x 800 resolution
• Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz processor
• 4GB RAM
• 320GB hard drive
• Intel GM45 Express chipset
• Four USB 2.0 ports
• Wi-Fi connectivity
• HDMI output
• Felica port
• Multi-memory card reader

Sounds pretty solid for a €1,400 notebook, and you do have the advantage of NEC's very own NX Pad that enables gesture functionality for improved ease-of-use. Choose from white, pink, black or red colors.
