Looks out Western Digital - your WD TV HD Media Player might just be in danger, having news of the Digital Entertainer Elite from Netgear leaked out. The latter looks pretty close in terms of design and specifications with the former, and a showdown would definitely be interesting. This is where we see the strength of content come into play whenever two pieces of hardware are pretty much tied at a stalemate. Of course, not everything is the same between the two, with the Digital Entertainer Elite edging out the WD in certain aspects such as a wide format compatibility, file streaming over a wireless or wired network via Draft-N specifications, and an integrated drive bay to upgrade your local storage. Chances are pretty good that Netgear's Digital Entertainer Elite will make a splash at next month's CES, so we'll keep out eyes peeled when in Vegas.
