Nokia To Develop Own HSDPA Modems
Posted on Dec 12, 08 07:57 AM PDT

Nokia has plans to work on its own range of HSDPA modems in the near future, according to a senior company executive recently. It seems that the shipment of its first dongle will begin early next year in order to test its strength against market leader Huawei. According to Tapio Markki, vice president for hardware platform components at Nokia, "Leveraging these capabilities, we believe we are well-positioned to become one of the winning providers for HSPA modem solutions. The market for HSPA modems is expected to grow very rapidly during the coming years". There is no word on specifications or pricing, but chances are their HSDPA modem will be sold via operators or bundled with services. Hopefully they'll look sleek enough to be paraded proudly.
