NVIDIA Now Provides Laptop Drivers, Gives Access to CUDA to a Gazillion Laptops

The fact that NVIDIA is now providing drivers for laptop that uses its own chips is more important than you think. First, why wasn't it like that in the first place? The short answer is: manufacturers didn't allow NVIDIA to do it. As customers of NVIDIA, laptop makers were entitled to ask for customizations such as branding or special features. Sometimes, they would even fiddle with the driver, adding their own stuff (yuck). In reality that usually meant that end-users like you and I had to wait longer to get the latest drivers, if they came out at all.
So, starting from today, those lucky enough to have a laptop from a company that doesn't want to mess with NVIDIA drivers will get more timely updates directly from the source, and that will surely make Froggy happy. Note to laptop makers: we did not care about all the custom stuff anyway.
Update: Oh and Mr Froggy himself reminded me that hundred of thousands or millions of laptops just became small supercomputers, thanks to CUDA.
