OLED Displays In Laptops By 2010
Posted on Dec 2, 08 10:06 AM PDT

A Samsung vice president has good reason to believe that OLED displays will make their way to laptops when 2010 rolls around, and half a decade after that, these will make up to 28% of all laptop displays without cost being an issue any longer since they will jack up the price by approximately 10% more compared to LCDs of today. This small price to pay reaps huge benefits, as OLEDs are well known for consuming much less power despite churning out superior contrast ratio. It will be interesting to see OLED displays merge with touchscreen technology, but we'll wait until the price drops to a more pocket-friendly level before taking the plunge. Hopefully scientists will be able to do something about the meagre lifespan as well.
