PS3 Now Cheaper To Produce
Posted on Dec 23, 08 05:22 PM PDT

Despite advancements in manufacturing process with Sony slashing the production cost of its PS3 to a mere $448.73, they're still making a loss on each console sold as the highest priced model in the market is retailing for $399. At least they aren't bleeding as much as when the PS3 was first launched - back then, it cost $840 to build a single PS3 despite being sold at $599. Guess it will take a fair bit more time for Sony to learn from Nintendo as the latter is making money off every single Wii it sells. [Press Release]
